tvillars announced successful contacted w/Mr. Kelly.
Plans are underway for some sort of "visit", to this board.
Hopefully next week.

As we have been, to some degree, running around in circles chattering to each other, I thought some might appreciate an opportunity to study up and consider preparing some questions.

No Promises, I'm sure.

The Canadian Patent Office site splits the PAs (Patent Applications) into smaller .pdf sections.

As most of the "meat" is in the Descriptions and Drawings, I've taken the liberty of uploading / linking to them. (Doesn't mean there isn't some juicy aspect I'm overlooking (again!))

Bon appetit!

1) HIGH VOLTAGE TO LOW VOLTAGE BIDIRECTIONAL CONVERTER
(buck booster? slow / fast "charger"?)
. Index / Summary
. Drawings - 9 pages
. Description - 12 pages

2) FAILURE RESISTANT CERAMIC POLYMER CAPACITOR
(narrow neck / PTC)
. Index / Summary
. Drawings - 10
. Description - 27

3) CERAMIC POLYMER CAPACITOR
. Index / Summary
. Drawings - 2
. Description - 10

4) MULTI-LAYER CERAMIC POLYMER CAPACITOR
. Index / Summary
. Drawings - 10
. Description - 23

According to the investors package for 1st Lighten the Load Inc. the CTO is a David Kelly and the CEO is a D.Lee Kelly .So seems like a husband/wife or sister/brother team.
Could not find anything on the David Kelly but a search of D.lee Kelly turned up this web site

http://www.linkedin.com/pub/9/7a7/224

so seems that they are into a few different things, all with the same FIPO BOX address.
The company has two places to send mail one is a FIPO BOX the other is for courriered packages, that address is a residential home in Calgary.
You can find the address on the investors info page.
A search of registered companies in Calgary did not show any of the three listed under her name on the above web site. Can't say that it is BS but the web sites don't look overly professional either. Also could not find but the one web site for STONEPATH POWER who they bought the patents from which again if it was my company the web site would not be good enough (I would spend more money for a better product). So take with a (2?) grain of salt.

nekote,

Thanks! This is a great primer. I'll let you know as soon as I hear something.

cdblack,

I agree this person likely lacks the business expertise for a polished business presentation, but I assume people are more interested in a technical discussion.

jam,

Maybe he can help with pressure calculations?

Tom,
I don't know if you read the patent. It is about the same as Weir, but worse.
1) They are proposing a way to get a high breakdown voltage by using a bunch a caps in series using floating electrodes between layers. This means capacitors in series. 1/C = sum ( 1/C1.... 1/Cn) = very low C. Then these low C are connected in parallel to get the desired C.
2) They don't know anything about mixing rules. The resultant dielectric constant will be low.

My pressure calculation was wrong. This only applies to plates immersed in a dielectric viscous medium. It was mentioned somewhere.

I've been emailing and calling 1st LTL but no one has returned my calls yet. I'm still hoping for something by the end of the week and will post as soon as something definite is known.
