This has been in the back of my mind for a while.

If you're high enough up in the company to be regional marketing manager for half of the US, presumably you are at least somewhat of an insider in the company - at least a lot more than we are.

Being in that position, within a company with the unprescedented short-term growth potential of ZMC+EEStor would seem to be an incredible once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

What could possibly motivate you to leave that?

I've been following up on this issue since I first learned of the Northrup/Zenn connection, and after quite a bit of digging I can find no credible support for the suggestion that there is some behind-the-scenes tie-in between Th!nk, ZMC, KPCB and/or EEStor.

Has anybody been able to come up with more info that would suggest a tie-in?

She's a woman.

Men have tried since the beginning of time to figure women out.

We never will.

Good question Daniel. Why would anyone leave a company that would have guaranteed a person to be a multi millionaire in a couple of months? Maybe she knows something as an insider of ZMC that B, TV and all the believers in EESTOR don't know. Maybe she has a conscience which other people in ZMC don't have.

There are a thousand reasons to leave a position. If she has kept her stock, then she can still participate in the explosion without having to deal with whatever is irritating her at Zenn. You think a little LSV manufacturer pays very much? Probably not. And their business model is to license the tech to OEM's, so it's not like she'll have any cars to sell. And what if Ian is an ass to work for? We just don't know. My point is, she's rich either way. Might as well do something she enjoys more.

How do you know she is "rich either way"? Do you know Vicki? Are you her spokes person? Some people who read this forum believe everything and anything posted as fact...I don't.

I think he meant if Eestor hits, she's rich either way because she'll still have whatever stock/options she accumulated to that point.

Ummmm... okay, I'll depersonalize it for clarity... I only meant that even after a person quits Zenn, if the stock ever shoots up (and said ex-Zenner still owns a bunch of it) this person will make a lot of money. Of course, if the stock never rises, then Mr. or Ms. former random Zenn employee makes nothing on it like the rest of us. That was my point. Put a third way, a person could quit Zenn and still stand to benefit from its success. Of course, I don't know or represent Vicki. Wait, is she hot?

Does someone have the date she left ZMC? I wonder if the date line up with Topfer leaving EEStor's board. If I had been her and found out Topfer had left I'd have serious second thoughts about staying at ZMC especially if Th!nk (a Kliener Perkins company) would take me back.

As to her stock in ZMC, I doubt she has anything significant as stock grants are almost always require a vesting period of 4 to 5 years.

Had been hoping for an early X-Mas present
Disappointed if it goes past Oct 09

Topfer came back on Jan 2008 at the same time as the Lockheed announcements. I would love to know what made Topfer change his mind. Unless Toperfer orginally left for personel reasons, it would have to be very significant for someone like Topfer to do a 180 and return.

She worked for Think before she went to Zenn.

Ms. Northrup's extensive electric vehicle background includes involvement in the launch of the TH!NK Mobility products when she joined Ford Motor Company in 2001, and prior to that, she worked with Bombardier to launch their Neighborhood Electric Vehicle in the late 1990s.

Also the only press about her going back to Think says she was "retained " by Think is that the same as hired ? or is she on loan from Zenn?

Postulating why she might leave is largely pointless without some inside information. Could be Zenn, could be her, could be circumstantial or any other number of reasons that cause people to change jobs.

I've just got to add, remember that guy who ditched the Beatles before they hit the big time? Bingo. Although not very relevant. (edited for typo)

Actually, similar things happen all the time in the music industry. For example, one guy in Linkin Park left just before they got the first hit. Fortunately, they took him back. :P

maybe canada is too cold!

zenn and eestor should consider East Mesa, AZ for a production/design facility. There is a old AFB (Williams) that is now a municipal airport with tons of land for industrial parks, railway access, best freways in America, great schools, and the GM proving grounds which are being vacated (where they crushed EV1s incidentally).

Doesn't get better than that.

Ian, What do you think?

Mesa is two thousand miles closer to Eestor. Zenn is two thousand miles closer to it's largest market California and I am sure there are incentives ~ Food for hought.
